Hobby to the extreme: Super-sized Paper Craft! 0_o

Hobby to the extreme? Definately. XD

Like many hobby enthusiasts, it's just not as enthusiastic until you take it to the major extreme (Note on how it's in bold letters). How extreme are we saying? I'm saying extreme in size and in some cases to the amount of detail put into their art... and the lengths people go to - to be the very first.

The best thing as many of us know when you make paper craft is that it's a pretty cheap hobby but you get similar results to an actual figure that you buy in toy stores, or a replica of the desired object. Basically, all you need is a printer, paper, cutting tools (scissors, cutters), tweezers, a ruler, a blunt pin/run out ink pen and pretty much a pc/laptop to print out your templates with. Not that hard, right?
This one's still small, wait till you see the Super-Sized one!

Well, my friends, here I give you some of the extreme things people do for paper craft.

 Optimus Prime Movie Paper Craft

Paper Prime: "I am Optimus Prime, Leader of the Autobots."

What's better than the big Huge Autobot Commander Optimus Prime himself? Since, you know, he's pricey if you buy him as a toy, why not make him out of paper and welcome him to the family?

Thanks to Julius Perdana (fellow Indonesian paper craft artist) at Paper Replika that dream is just a print, cut, glue mile away. Yes, Trans fans: the template is FREE. I was tempted to make Optimus, but when I found out just how big he was... just say I have issues to storage space DX.

Comparison to an Adult.
Comparison to a toddler.

Every Trans Fan wish come true (unless you're a fan of the Decepticons).

These pics are courtesy of Diorama, who has without a doubt welcomed this Paper bot to the family. If you're wanting to have a go at it yourself, head over to Julius' site and you won't be disappointed. ;)

Life-Sized Link Paper Craft

My buddy: Link!
This paper craft comes with the craze for video games. Especially when you were apart of the 90's generation who were the ones that picked up the Nintendo console game and played RPG games that have the fantasy genre.

Ladies and Gents, I'm talking about the famous character of The Legend of Zelda series, Link.

Haywan created this life-sized Link in his very own home.

I got to say I was flabbergasted When I saw it and thought: 'Dude! How freaking long did that take you to make?'

I think the template is available at his site. So, if you're a Link or Legend of Zelda ultimate fan and think you want to give it a shot, try going to the Paper Craft Museum site.

To see the videos on YouTube for the creation of Link go to Haywan's Channel.

I have to say the shield and the sword do actually make good props for costume playing, though. =)

Iron Man Movie Suit Paper Craft

Now we're getting somewhere when it comes to costumes. Need a Iron Man helmet but you're not into tampering with metal? Look no further! I give you the paper helmet!

That's right, you can add the lights for the eyes. Looks cool huh?

This paper craft is created by paper artist Edgar Medrano (aka ScannerJoe).

This template is also FREE, and you can pay a homage to it at Paperkraft.net. The fact that it does fit on your head is amazing.

Iron Ma- Wait! It's Paper Armor Man! XD
ScannerJoe didn't stop there though. Seeing he's got the helmet - heck, why not all at once?

That's right. Paper Iron Man suit full body!

To the left is ScannerJoe in the action going a full-on Iron Man armor during the premiere of the Iron Man 2 movie.

What fans do for their fandom. <3 You got to love it. =D

Crazy Racing Car JDM Honda NSX Paper Craft

Out of all the examples you may have seen so far... this one really takes the cake. Thanks to Epson (who sponsored this event), this crazy paper craft was made.

Uh, no.. they're not Smurfs, they're humans.

As you see above, those are about A1 to A0 sized sheets in the making of an impressively detailed 1:1 cardboard replica of an Acura/Honda NSX Super GT race car. This model debuted at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2010.  The results? Look below.

A Racing Car... from paper. XP

If you look at the neighbor cars, there's barely a difference.
Want to make one yourself but you're a bit queasy about the size? No worries, Epson was kind enough to let us have a 1:24 scale template of our own for free. You can get your own here. To see the pics of the construction of this awesome sized paper craft you can go here.

Like the post says, a hobby isn't fun when you don't go extreme. Paper craft for one has made it. =D

Hope you enjoyed this post!
